About Us

We’re building what we wish we had

Pediatric diabetes tools lack approachability, especially for younger users who require age appropriate, educational support to understand their chronic condition. Ketsu offers a friendly, intuitive experience that builds literacy and agency early, while providing rigorous modeling behind the curtain. Personalized insights build trust and secure long-term engagement, anchoring Ketsu’s business model. As we scale, our platform detects lifestyle changes applicable for the entire diabetes spectrum, wherever our users are in their diabetes journey, Ketsu meets them there.

Our Story

Ketsu began with a conversation on a bus during an MBA school trip in Japan. That was where Mona and Aaron first discovered they were both living with Type 1 diabetes. Within minutes, what started as a casual conversation turned into something much more personal. They shared stories about the exhaustion of managing diabetes every day, the constant decision making, and the frustration of feeling like existing healthcare tools were built around numbers instead of people.

The human element

What’s our secret? Great people.

.As they reflected on their own experiences growing up with diabetes, one thing became clear. Most tools designed for diabetes management were created with adults in mind. Children are often left trying to navigate confusing dashboards, endless alerts, and data heavy systems without truly understanding what is happening in their bodies or why their blood sugar changes. The emotional side of living with diabetes is often overlooked entirely. For Mona and Aaron, this was not just a technology gap. It was a human one. They began asking themselves a simple question: what if diabetes management could feel empowering instead of overwhelming? What if children could learn about their health through experiences designed specifically for them? That idea became Ketsu.

Meet the team

With the addition of Natalie, who had previously worked with Aaron, the team came together with a shared mission to build something they wished had existed when they were younger. Combining backgrounds in healthcare research, engineering, and business strategy, the team began creating a platform designed to make diabetes education more engaging, supportive, and personal.Today, Ketsu is building an interactive experience that helps children better understand their bodies through gamification, personalized learning, and real time feedback. More than anything, Ketsu was created to help children and families feel less alone in their journey with Type 1 diabetes. Because while Type 1 diabetes cannot yet be cured, we believe the experience of growing up with it can be changed.
